I Couldn't Find the Perfect Now Playing Vinyl Record Stand, So I Built 3 – LLKworks Workshop
Why I Couldn't Find the Perfect Now Playing Vinyl Stand

In the heart of the LLKworks workshop, our latest journey began with a simple, frustrating question: Why is it so hard to find the perfect now playing vinyl record stand or a high-quality record display stand that actually fits a premium setup?
From our first auto-illuminating Classic now playing vinyl record stand to the sound-reactive Dynamic LED record stand, and finally to our latest Vintage flagship, this is a story of design evolution, craftsmanship, and the analog lifestyle.

Q: 🙋 You’re known for premium vegetable-tanned leather goods. What sparked the move into Vinyl Record Stands?
A: 💡 It’s more of an evolution than a pivot. Many of my leather designs—like my Guitar Pick Holders or Violin Key Pouches—are deeply rooted in music. Music has always been my core inspiration. I noticed a recurring flaw in most "Now Playing" stands on the market: they required clunky inline remotes to turn on the LEDs. It felt like a chore that broke the ritual of listening to a record. I knew I could build something more seamless, more intuitive.
Stand #1: The Classic That Started It All
Q: 🙋Tell us about the first design. What made it a "Classic"?
A: 💡The Classic Wooden Vinyl Record Stand was born from a love for minimalism. I used solid wood to ensure a timeless aesthetic that complements any turntable setup, making it a thoughtful gift idea for record lovers who appreciate minimalist design. The breakthrough was the sensor-activated lighting. Instead of fumbling for a switch, the warm LED glow activates the moment you slide a record sleeve into the slot, creating a seamless now playing LED record stand experience. It’s versatile, too—designed to sit perfectly on a desk or be mounted as a wall display.

Q: 🙋Were you satisfied with the initial reception?
A: 💡I’m a perfectionist, so I’m always looking for ways to refine the details. But the feedback from the community was incredible. Seeing the LLKworks design in other enthusiasts' setups gave me the confidence to push the boundaries for the next generation.
Stand #2: Dynamic Sound-Reactive Power
Q: 🙋That led to the second version, the "Dynamic" stand. What changed?
A: 💡If the Classic is about elegance, the Dynamic Record Stand is about energy. I skipped the sketches and went straight into 3D modeling to create a bold, futuristic silhouette. It features a high-performance LED light bar powered by a sound-reactive algorithm. It doesn’t just hold your record; it visualizes the pulse of the music as a vibrant music visualizer and a seamless now playing LED record stand. It’s perfect for fans of Punk, Hard Rock, or any genre where you want to feel the impact of the sound.
Stand #3: Vintage VU Meters (Our 2026 Flagship)
Q: 🙋 Some are calling your latest 2026 release the most unique vinyl accessory of the year. What’s the secret?
A: 💡This one has been in the works since last year. From the custom PCB design to the mechanical calibration of the meters, it’s been a labor of love. The Vintage VU Meter Record Stand is our flagship. It features dual analog VU meters that dance to the rhythm of your vinyl. It captures that 1950s "Golden Age of Audio" aesthetic. There’s something hypnotic about watching those needles move—it’s pure analog soul.

Q: 🙋The "Vintage" edition looks stunning, but why limit Batch 01 to only 10 units?
A: 💡 It’s a matter of integrity. LLKworks is a small business built on craftsmanship. Each unit is hand-assembled and rigorously tested in my workshop. Mass production would mean sacrificing the very details that make these stands special. I’d rather satisfy a small group of true vinyl lovers with something perfect than compromise for the sake of volume.
Inside the LLKworks Workshop Process
Q: 🙋What’s next for LLKworks?
A: 💡My work will always revolve around the things I love—skateboarding, tech, and high-fidelity audio. I’m constantly exploring record accessories, audio-inspired tools, and tech-infused lifestyle products, experimenting with materials like aluminum, ABS, and leather to see where they intersect. To everyone who has supported this small business: thank you. Your feedback is what keeps the workshop lights on.
